Placeholder /ˈpleɪsˌhoʊldɚ/ Something used or included temporarily or as a substitute for something that is not known or must remain generic; that which holds, denotes or reserves a place for something to come later.
These works reflect on the concept of placeholder by searching a permanent beauty in objects meant to be temporary. The green screen, the art frame graphic and the loading colours of Google Search. All objects designed to be substituted by some definitive ones.
This research challenges the aesthetic of the placeholders by fixing them and test if they can survive in time and space, going against their original purpose.
The research resulted in the creation of three works presented in 2016 during the exhibition “A Tree Is Best Measured When It Is Down” at Galerie der Künstler Munich.
